The Media Development Lounge actually has 3 addresses: our London office, our registered address and our Spanish office, where our team is based. Our London office at 180 Piccadilly is where our PA Erica is based. She takes all of our incoming calls and connects them to wherever the members of our team may be on the planet. We are a small team that travels extensively to client meetings and film festivals etcetera.
Most of our client meetings are split between here and in studios and locations chosen by the Directors and Producers that we represent.
The Media Development Lounge operates an open-door policy. We can meet clients at any time at any of our offices or in their country of residence.
No, big studio films have large expenses and even larger budgets. The bigger the budget, the bigger the amount that needs to be recouped for the film just to break even. A studio film has to do exceptionally well across all platforms to generate a good return.
The average Hollywood studio movie costs $70M with another $40m in marketing. These types of big budgets mean that a film needs to see astronomical returns in order for investors to receive a profit on their investment.
Finally, it is almost impossible for a private investor to invest in a Hollywood movie that has a range of A-list actors in its cast. These types of movies are not open to the general public.

The bottom line is that it is a lot easier to break even and make a profit with a small independent film, and the most profitable genre within film is Documentaries.
The Media Development Lounge charges a set fee to the Production Studio. We act as an Introduction Agent, nothing more.
The Media Development Lounge arrived on the film funding scene in September 2014. Charlie Jules Wood is behind the company and it was his dream to create a one-stop-shop for film producers, directors and studios to find funding for their cinematic dreams. The Media Development Lounge has created a transparent and simple avenue for private investors to become involved in the film and documentary investment arena. We have made the entire process exceptionally easy to understand by producing an easy to follow 5 step guide and various other brochures and reports that should furnish even a complete newcomer to film and documentaries with a clear introduction to this market.
The Media Development Lounge started in grand style by securing the rights to raise the funds for several Feature Documentaries that were to be made by the legendary Film and Documentary Producer and Director Jon Brewer. (Jon Brewer has guided the careers of several stars, including David Bowie, Mick Taylor, Gerry Rafferty, and Bill Wyman of the Rolling Stones. The Media Development Lounge has already raised in excess of $1M for Jon Brewer’s studios and is currently working on funding for his 18th documentary.
There are many reasons for this, some business based and some lifestyle related. Most importantly though, The Media Development Lounge’s team has families and young children that all enjoy the stunning weather, exceptionally high standard of schools and the more relaxed and high quality of life that Marbella offers. In short, it’s a wonderful place to live and work.
Nothing changes with your investment. The Media Development Lounge never handles client funds, and your contract is with the studio that is making the film. We are hired as executive producers or an Introduction Agent and our role is to simply introduce investors to the film studios we represent. Your funds will always be sent directly to the film studio, your contract will be with the film studio. The Media Development Lounge is here to make sure that the entire process is easy, hassle free and even fun.
Then the journey begins. Once you have transferred your funds you will also need to sign and return the contract that you would have received from The Media Development Lounge on behalf of the film studio. Once that's done you will receive an electronic version of the contract signed by you and the film studio for your records and a hard copy will follow in the post.
The Producer will then work his magic, creating what will become the masterpiece that will then be licensed around the world and screened on your telly.
You will be updated regularly of your documentary’s progress, via telephone and email updates from The Media Development Lounge. You'll be notified of walk-on-part opportunities, set visits and premiers as and when they become available.

Charlie Jules Wood - Managing Director at The Media Development Lounge
Charlie Jules Wood has been involved in a range of varied marketing and sales positions for the past twenty five years. He is not shy about telling everyone that his happiest moments have been in the past three years as they have been exclusively within the film and documentary arena, which makes coming to work an absolute pleasure. He recently said:
“I get to talk about documentaries all day, visit film sets, meet clients from all around the world and introduce them to some of the most incredible Directors and Producers, I have a dream job.”
Charlie has always had a passion for film, however, his tastes spread towards documentaries nearly 15 years ago when he began watching Directors such as Michael Moore (Bowling for Columbine, Fahrenheit 9/11) Morgan Spurlock (SuperSize Me) and Laura Poitras (Flag Wars 2003, My Country, My Country 2006, and most recently the mind blowing Citizenfour.)
Charlie tries to avoid a continuous work, work, work attitude and when he’s not working on The Media Development Lounge, he is either enjoying his family or writing. His inaugural novel, ‘A Pregnant Man’s Diary - A Man’s Guide to Pregnancy’ is ready for release and should be available on Amazon from December 2015. To add to this, Charlie is already halfway through completing his second novel.
Over the past couple of years fitness has become a big part of Charlie's life. After reading Tim Ferriss’s ‘4 Hour Week’ and ‘4 Hour Body’ and more recently being introduced to the world of Dave Asprey and his Bulletproof Diet, Charlie has entered into a relatively strict routine which he sticks to on most days. I use the term ‘most days’ as he does on occasions succumb to temptation of a Lamb Ragon Josh curry and an ice cold Cobra Beer.
He splits his time between the UK and San Pedro de Alcantara, Malaga, which he, his wife and son chose because it afforded them an unrivalled outdoor lifestyle with access to mountains and the coast. This idyllic lifestyle is soon to end though as The Media Development Lounge will be opening an office in Soho, London in the first few months of 2016. This will bring Charlie and his family back to London.

Charlie is starting the company blog in which he’ll write about the film industry and review various books and documentaries. Jeff has over fifteen years’ experience. Most of this lays within the property market in London. However, he also has 5 years of hands-on experience of working in the Alternative Investment Market. Jeff & Charlie have worked with each other for several years in film. Jeff is also very familiar with The Media Development Lounge and the Director and Producer Jon Brewer. In 2014 Jeff attended the exclusive Premiere for Jon Brewer’s Feature Documentary entitled Nat King Cole: Afraid of the Dark. This was held at the Mayfair Hotel in London. (Nat King Cole: Afraid of the Dark has gone on to win a Screen Nation Award - Feb 2015)
Jeff has two children and an uncontainable love for life. He is gifted with an inexhaustible knowledge of random facts and figures. Everyone at The Media Development Lounge is confident that if the calling ever took him, he could make an outrageous living by just appearing on TV quizzes.
Jeff's dog is called Senna, and she is a regular part of The Media Development Lounge team. She is a 220 pound Boerboel that sleeps most of the day under his desk. However, on occasion she comes out to lick a visiting client.

Natalie has been working for us at The Media Development Lounge since the beginning of 2015. She quickly brought the team into line and has rejuvenated our social media strategy to give the Media Development Lounge a presence on Twitter, Facebook and other popular sites. Natalie has been managing offices for over 10 years and somehow combines her full time role with being a dynamic mother to her 2 young daughters.
Natalie is a yoga enthusiast and a dismal cook (her words, not mine) who manages to indulge her passion for travel on regular basis.
